Christine Poulin, BA
Research Project Coordinator, NNACoE
Christine was raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon in which she developed a deep appreciation for nature from an early age. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Southern Oregon, she spent countless hours exploring the outdoors, fostering a lifelong love for the environment. Committed to preserving the natural world and enhancing community, Christine has dedicated significant time to working and volunteering for various local organizations such as the Bureau of Reclamation and volunteering at Klamath County Fire District #4. In pursuit of new opportunities and experiences, Christine moved to Seattle to continue exploring and contributing to environmental and community causes. She eventually finished her degree from the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences where she developed a keen interest in research, particularly in fields related to Public Health. Engaging with the city's renowned research institutions and organizations, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, among others. Eventually, Christine settled with her husband and two boys to Portland, Oregon; a city renowned for its eco-conscious culture and strong sense of community. Through these experiences in Klamath Falls, Seattle, and now Portland, Christine has built strong connections with like-minded individuals and organizations, further solidifying a commitment to both nature, community service and research interests.
She currently works at the Oregon Health and Sciences University as a Research Project Coordinator for the Northwest Native American Center of Excellence under the Department of Family Medicine. She helps primarily with the Wy’east Medicine Pathway which is a post-baccalaureate health education pathway for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) learners who are passionate about becoming physicians. She also helps NNACoE with other projects, initiatives, and events with a hope to learn, inspire others, and demonstrate the power of passion and commitment in creating meaningful change. Outside of work, Christine enjoys surfing, hiking and exploring the Portland metro area, volunteering for local non-profits, and spending time with her husband and two boys.
