AI/AN Dental School
Applicant Workshop

The AI/AN Dental School Applicant Workshop is a one day event designed for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) pre-dental students who are actively preparing to apply to dental school within the next two years. Participants will become part of a community that shares a passion for dentistry from an Indigenous perspective by meeting other AI/AN pre-dental students and regional AI/AN leaders in dentistry.

The workshop is hosted by the Northwest Native American Center of Excellence at OHSU in partnership with the University of Washington School of Dentistry and the Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry.

When: April 5, 2024 from 8 AM - 2 PM PST

Where: Virtual Workshop held via Webex

Application Deadline: February 26, 2024

Workshop Key Components:

  • Mock Interviews and learning about the dental school interview experience

  • Personal Statement Review: One-on-one feedback session

    • You will submit your completed personal statement with your application for review

  • Native Dentist Panel: Presentation + Q&A with Native Dentists

  • Dental Admission Test (DAT) introduction and overview

  • Application process and admissions overview

    • Helpful tips for navigating the dental school application process

Eligibility

The AI/AN Applicant Workshop is intended for American Indian/Alaska Natives who intend on applying to dental school in one or two years.

To be eligible for the AI/AN Dental School Applicant Workshop, the following criteria is strongly recommended:

  1. Possess a completed personal statement (you will use this for your application and during the workshop)

  2. Have some familiarity with the dental school interview process

  3. Have previously taken the Dental Admission Test (DAT) or plan to take the DAT
